Three day walk for breast cancer

Here is a video clip to  watch  it gives you a little idea of what the walk was like then  read after and see our pics!

In 2002 a friend of mine wanted to particapate in the 3Day 60 mile walk for breast cancer…..I thought it would be great! I had no idea of the challanges  we would face preparing for this walk and then particapating in it……We started training with just a mile a day then up to five in just a week or so, by the time for the walk we had worked up 15 miles a day a couple of times a week, because we both worked full time. My job was to help her train and then be part of a team that set up stations for water and snacks…..I was up early every day setting up tables, making gator aid, and putting out food for when the walkers made it our station. At the end of my day I had to set up our tent and prepare for Ann’s arrival  back from walking.

Our little tent city moved every day.. you should have seen it it was hundreds of tents taking up what seemed like miles and it was set up and take down every morning and afternoon. It was exasuting but soooo fulfilling!

Seeing the faces of those who compleated their walk each day was something I can not even begin to describe….Emotions were high tears were shead and lots of hugs all around. I did not do the walk that year but the part I particapated it was so rewarding…..here are some of the pics form this walk. This is my friend Ann!This is me at the end of one of the days I was soooooo tired and hungry as you can tell!

This is some of the walkers ….if you would like to know more about the walk you can check out 3day.org. If you ever get a chance to particapate you should do it.  It is a life changing experience!!!

That is really awesome! It is people like you, setting up the tents, and stations that make the walkers feel so welcome, and cared about.

Thank you for sharing the journey. I can see how rewarding it was for all involved. 🙂
