Healthier burger and fries

We all like to have a great burger and fires..heres a healthier recipe for burgers and fries.

Build a Better Burger
Makes: 6 serving 1 slightly beaten egg white
2 tablespoons water
1/4 cup bread crumbs
1/4 cup finely shredded carrot
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1/4 cup finely chopped red bell pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan
1 pound lean ground beef
6 whole-grain buns
Lettuce, tomato slices, and red-onion slices

1. Combine egg white, water, bread crumbs, carrot, onion, bell pepper, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.

2. Add Parmesan and beef; mix. Shape into six 1/2-inch-thick patties.

3. Grill burgers on an oiled grill rack for 7 minutes. Turn and grill 8 to 11 minutes more, or until no pink remains.

4. Serve burgers on buns with veggies.
Fat free fries

STEP 1: Cut 2 scrubbed medium sweet potatoes into quarters; cut each quarter lengthwise into 4 wedges. Arrange on a baking pan mistedΒ with nonstick cooking spray.

STEP 2: Combine 1/2 teaspoon each salt, ground cumin, chili powder, and paprika, and 1/4 teaspoon pepper; sprinkle over potatoes.

STEP 3: Bake for 20 minutes at 425 degrees F., or until potatoes are brown and tender, turning once.

    It all sounds like a winner! I will have to try it on my kids and hubby. If I made them for me, I would have to use veggie meat. I guess that would work, right? Thanks! πŸ™‚

    THIS SHOULD HELP YOU DIGEST THE MEAT BETTER! I HAVE TROUBLES WITH RED MEAT, WHEN I USE TO RODEO I HAD A BULL HORN PUNCHER MY LARGE INTESTEIN AND THE SCARE TISSUE I LIVE WITH TODAY MAKES IT HARD TO PAST MEAT ALONG. BUT THIS ONE SOUNDS DELISHES!

    Now THAT’S a burger I can sink my teethe into. I’ll be trying it this weekend. One thing I found out about sweet tater fries: After you cut them, soak them in water a couple of hours, or overnight if you can. Pulls out the starch, just like regular taters. The difference is surprising; I’ve done that for years. If you look up gourmet fried potatoes, either regular or sweet, you’ll find that’s what they do.

    Another thing I do once and awhile. Toast (blacken the skin) some jalapenos,skin and seed, cut fine and replace the bell pepper with it. Pablano peppers work just as well. Not as much kick, but a really different taste. Just remember to toast, skin and seed first.

    This makes me want a Turkey burger! But I bet this is healthier than that even. Will have to give it a try. πŸ™‚
